A nice blend of muscle and athleticism

“This filly appealed to us first with her rich brown coat, and then more importantly, her body shape and attitude. She has some length in her body but short cannons, a strong shoulder and forearms, and a hip and hindquarter suited for speed.” – Nigel Blackiston

We think this filly is an exciting prospect at great value for trainer and purchaser, Nigel Blackiston. Nigel’s recent move to the Ballarat training complex is paying dividends – a new era for the stable and much fun to be had.

Purchased for just $16,000 plus GST, we invite you to join a great group of owners to race this filly. She has been paid up for the Inglis Race Series and she is eligible for Super VOBIS and VOBIS Gold bonuses, adding further potential returns in Victoria.

She is a daughter of the handsome and fast sprinter, SCISSOR KICK, a son of Australia’s most dominant sire of sires Redoute’s Choice and descends from a spectacular female family rich in international Group 1 winners.

An impressive 2YO winner, Scissor Kick’s 3yo spring campaign established him among Australia’s best 3YO colts. He won the Listed ATC Rosebud H. (1200m) before winning (quinella with Panzer Division) the Group 3 ATC Up and Coming Stakes (1300m). The photo finish went against Scissor Kick at his fifth start, in the Group 1 ATC Golden Rose S takes (1400m), but jockey Tye Angland had no doubt about the quality of his widely admired second-placed effort, saying afterwards “He’s a real fighter, best horse in the race”.

Scissor Kick’s Autumn 3YO campaign began with success in the Group 3 ATC Eskimo Prince Stkes (1200m). He then joined Dissident, Wandjina & Chautauqua to complete the top four in the Group 1 ATC All Aged Stakes, rated Australia’s best 1400-metre race over the past three years.

The dam of this filly, PERECT HOSTESS, won two races including a 1200m 3yo fillies race at Caulfield coming from well back in the field. She also placed four times including at Flemington in a close finish, and at Caulfield behind the very talented Group winner Varenna Miss. Not only that, she was considered talented enough by her trainers and her owner (Jonathan Munz) to race in seven stakes-races, placing 4th of 5th on a couple of occasions.

Her damsire, DEHERE, is the damsire of 107 stakes-winners including 14 Group 1 winners (e.g. Forensics, Hauraki, Castelvecchio and Maid of Heaven).

Dehere’s daughters nick well with Scissor Kick’s sire, REDOUTE’S CHOICE. Redoute’s Choice and has sons have sired 90 runners out of mares by Dehere, for six stakes-winners plus 12 stakes-placed horses, and an impressive winners-to-runners rate of more than 72%.
