“As soon as I laid eyes on this filly my mind immediately turned to the lucrative staying races in Victoria. Not just the feature Oaks and Cups, but also the numerous 3yo and 4yo+ distance races that have historically been under-appreciated. The added prizemoney for some of those races, combined wth VOBIS and VOBIS Gold bonuses, excites me. This filly has the physique and matching pedigree to be a mid-distance / staying type of the future.” – Nigel

AMERICAIN (USA) famously won the Melbourne Cup, but also won five other Group races in Australia and Europe at 2400m or further. He also placed in three further Group 1 races, The BMW, the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase and The Australian Cup.

His oldest Australian runnes are now four year olds. He has 47 winners in Australia led by three stakes performers, most notably AMEROCK (3rd G3 SAJC Chairman’s S. and Listed SAJC Morphettville Guineas) and AMERICAN IN PARIS (3rd Listed VRC St Leger and Listed MRC Galilee Series Final H.). In April 2019, TARWIN was a strong winner at Caulfield in the VOBIS 3YO Sires to signal his development into a talented mid-distance type.

Americain also stands in the Northern Hemispehere where he has sired 35 winners from just 55 runners, including the recent Grade 3 winner CAUSEFORCOMMOTION, in the US – by no less than nine lengths!

This filly is the third foal out of ETERNAL CIRCLE, a daughter of FASTNET ROCK who won two races.

Eternal Circle is a daughter city-winning mare KUSHA, a half-sister to Group winner OFFENBACH plus three other winners who are also stakes-placed: GLOWLAMP, ISLE OF GIBRALTAR and STAR OF GIBRALTAR.

This is  pretty good family, many of the better performers being fillies. No fewer than 80% of the runners descending from third dam PUSH A VENTURE, are winners. And 15% stakes-placed or better. Group 2 winner SPANISH WHISPER is another well-performed filly from this family.

For fillies, it adds value to see many good stallions on a pedigree page. This filly has Roberto, Blushing Groom, Fastnet Rock, Sadler’s Wells and Shirley Heights all within four generations. It is equally important to see her physical type match up with her pedigree. Sure, plenty of speed has been displayed by some of the family runners, but the dominance of classy, mid-distance stallions throughout her pedigree gives us some faith that she is a distance horse of the future.
