- Foal Date: November 14, 2015 (AUS)

“This is a well-balanced filly with a lovely galloping action. She gives me a great feel under saddle. She has a great hind-quarter, and terrific attitude and temperament.” – Scott Cameron
By HIGH CHAPARRAL, a Champion sire world-wide who has sired no fewer than 108 stakes-winners at a terrific rate of 6.9% of runners.
Amongst his 20 Group 1 winners are SO YOU THINK, IT’S A DUNDEEL, SHOOTOUT, TORONADO, TIVACI and Cup winner REKINDLING.
Sadly now deceased, his progeny continue to succeed at the highest level. Especially over distances in excess of 1600m.
In recent weeks, ACE HIGH won the G1 ATC Champion Stakes and then the G1 VRC Derby. BRING ME ROSES took out the G2 VRC Edward Manifold Stakes before placing in the G1 VRC OAKS, along with another daughter of High Chaparral, HIYAAM. And of course REKINDLE stormed into first place in the Melbourne Cup.
And what’s more, his retiring mares are highly sought-after by breeders. Perhaps this filly offers a great chance for racetrack success and then value at the end of her racing days.
CRIMSON DAWN sadly only raced twice in her career. But she has been a terrific producer in the breeding barn.
She has produced four winners including MISS ROSE DE LAGO, a winner of 9 races and almost $1m in prizemoney.
Crimson Dawn’s other winning progeny are all multiple winners including five-time winner PHANTOM QUARTZ who is by a son of Sadler’s Wells, just like High Chaparral.
She is a daughter of the highly-accomplished sire FASLIYEV, damsire of 34 stakes-winners (24 of them fillies), out of the Irish Group 1 winner MAIL THE DESERT.
There are 57 runners by HIGH CHAPARRAL out of mares by FASLIYEV or his sons. A very strong 65% of those are winners, and more than 5% are stakes-winners including Group 1 winner WIGMORE HALL (IRE).
Interestingly, the statistics for fillies bred on this cross are better than the males, with 6.5% winning at stakes level.
This filly’s family descending from third dam MAIL BOAT (GB) include 18 winners, and two of those are stakes-winners (7% of runners). A further two are stakes-placed.
Of those runners in this family, 17 are by sires from the NORTHERN DANCER sireline. Twelve are winners (71% of runners), and two are stakes- winners (12%). That augers well for this filly’s prospects.
