By an outstanding sire of 16 Group 1 winners
2yo Chestnut Colt
- Sire: Pentire (GB)
- Dam: Passchendaele (NZ)
- Foal Date: November 17, 2016 (NZ)
- Trainer: Matt Cumani (VIC)
Out of a Group 2 winning and Group 1 placed daughter of MONTJEU
Racehorse shares are now available in this son of former leading NZ sire before his death, Pentire. He is out of a Group 2 winning and Group 1 placed mare and is a grandson of another Group winning mare.
Trained by Matt Cumani who has developed a very progressive and successful stable at Ballarat, this colt has the physical attributes and pedigree to mature into a Classic 3yo type.
PENTIRE (GB) has been an outstanding stallion based at Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand, for well over a decade. On the track he won the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes and the Group 1 Ascot King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.
At the time of his death in late 2017, he was New Zealand’s leading active sire of Group 1 winners. Among his 48 stakes- winners are 16 Group 1 winners. His leading progeny include (KING) MUFHASA, PRINCE OF PENZANCE and XCELLENT.
PASSCHENDAELE is a New Zealand-bred daughter of the great sire and broodmare sire, MONTJEU (IRE). She won five of her 14 races including the Group 2 Waikato Gold Cup (2400m). She placed in the Group 1 Waikato International Stakes – twice!
So far she has only produced one winner from her two foals to race, a winner over 1400m in NZ. That gelding obviously has some untapped ability with NZ trainer Graeme Rogerson running him in the Group 2 Great Northern Guineas (1600m).
This colt is bred on the same Pentire/ Sadler’s Wells pattern as seven male winners (from just nine to race) including Group 1 winner VOLATILE MIX.
- Inclusions: GST and all costs to 31-August, plus insurance to 29-Jan-2018 and early nominations to the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper
